White Night is taking over Victoria in 2018 with four locations now set to hold the annual event.
Melbourne kicks off White Night festivities on Saturday 17 February, followed by Ballarat on Saturday 17 March, with White Night Bendigo and Geelong scheduled for later in the year.
Licensees who have traded over previous years are urged not to become complacent in 2018.
Patron and community safety should be at the forefront of minds with White Night attracting thousands of visitors each year. Given this is a popular family outing, licensees should be extra vigilant when it comes to minors.
Licensees wishing to trade beyond normal hours for the event must have approval from the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR), otherwise normal trading hours still apply.
Penalties may apply for venues supplying liquor beyond their licensed hours.
Inspectors from the VCGLR will be out visiting venues during festivities focussing on:
adherence to licensed area - refer to red line plans
exercising responsible service of alcohol
unsupervised minors on premises
intoxicated patrons on premises
maximum patron capacity for respective areas
Information on Underage patrons on licensed premises and the VCGLR's intoxication guidelines are helpful for you and your staff to be prepared for White Night.
