Online forms making VCGLR applications easier

Saving paper and making life easier for stakeholders is the focus as the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) moves more forms online.

Gaming Industry Employee Applications and Renewals and Approval of a Nominee or Director for a Liquor Licence have all been recently transferred from paper to online. This is in addition to other applications which are available online including applications for temporary limited liquor licensees and submission of community benefit statements.

VCGLR CEO Catherine Myers is pleased that the move to online is making it quicker and easier to receive and process required information.

“Extensive work across the business has meant that a range of forms are available online which makes it easier for licensees, venue staff and all clients to work with us.”

The Coles Group worked with the VCGLR on the Approval of a Nominee or Director for a Liquor Licence with a Coles spokesperson stating the portal “is a good initiative to reduce the cost of doing business and unnecessary red tape and delays.”

Since the new forms came online more than 50 per cent of all applications made to the VCGLR are now received online. The move to online lodgement simplifies the process for applicants by:

  • Allowing immediate lodgement of the application once all relevant sections are completed.
  • Providing intuitive questions based on the applicant’s responses.
  • Enabling the application to be saved and returned to at a later date.
  • Reducing delays that can occur using the post.
  • Providing immediate acknowledgement of lodged applications via email.

The number of paper-based applications lodged that required additional information to process has reduced from over 20 per cent to less than five per cent, making processes quicker for both clients and the VCGLR.

“The VCGLR will continue to move more forms online throughout 2017 in order to improve efficiency for licensees, venue staff and clients,” Ms Myers said.
