The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) is targeting patron numbers, responsible service of alcohol and underage drinking and gambling as part of its Spring Sports Blitz.
Spring is a busy time across the state with events such as the AFL Grand Final, Rugby World Cup events and Spring Racing Carnival drawing thousands of visitors to licensed venues across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Regional race days and other family-friendly events can often mean increased risks of underage drinking and gambling.
The Spring Sports Blitz will run throughout September – November 2019 with the VCGLR education team and compliance inspectors visiting venues to monitor, inform and enforce compliance with responsible service of alcohol and gambling and liquor licence obligations.
During the busy AFL Grand Final weekend, the dedicated Spring Sports Blitz inspectors and education team ensured venues were well prepared and that patrons enjoyed the celebrations safely and responsibly.
The VCGLR is committed to ensuring Victorians and visitors enjoy safe and responsible gambling and liquor environments and the Spring Sports Blitz will ensure both venues and patrons understand the role they play to stay safe and enjoy responsible gambling and drinking.
